From 68ea2a068afcd5c236992061ce5e953c5ab9d3ea Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Brandon Thomas Date: Fri, 2 Oct 2026 03:06:54 -0400 Subject: [PATCH] M9 perf: signature revalidation after edits reuses the signed ranges' digests and the parsed signed revision (DigestCache per document) and no longer scans the file for revision markers: a comment edit on a 120 MB signed file takes 6 ms instead of 84 ms; cos exposes xref entries so unchanged objects are skipped when diffing revisions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 --- crates/cos/src/document.rs | 10 ++++ crates/engine/src/lib.rs | 15 +++--- crates/engine/src/tests.rs | 48 +++++++++++++++++ crates/sign/src/keys.rs | 2 +- crates/sign/src/lib.rs | 2 +- crates/sign/src/pdf.rs | 102 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++---- 6 files changed, 162 insertions(+), 17 deletions(-) diff --git a/crates/cos/src/document.rs b/crates/cos/src/document.rs index b5ff4bb6..e221c537 100644 --- a/crates/cos/src/document.rs +++ b/crates/cos/src/document.rs @@ -403,6 +403,16 @@ impl Document { self.overlay.keys().copied().collect() } + /// Where object `num` is stored in the file (ignoring unsaved edits). + pub fn xref_entry(&self, num: u32) -> Option { + self.entries.get(&num).cloned() + } + + /// Object `num` has an unsaved edit. + pub fn is_edited(&self, num: u32) -> bool { + self.overlay.contains_key(&num) + } + pub fn root(&self) -> Option { self.trailer.reference(b"Root") } diff --git a/crates/engine/src/lib.rs b/crates/engine/src/lib.rs index f2f01130..da3cd794 100644 --- a/crates/engine/src/lib.rs +++ b/crates/engine/src/lib.rs @@ -140,6 +140,7 @@ pub struct Document { /// Signature fields, validated against the session's trust store (Signatures panel). pub signatures: Arc>, trust: Arc, + sig_cache: Arc, editor: Option, config: RenderConfig, } @@ -1260,8 +1261,8 @@ pub struct Session { } /// Validate the signature fields of `cos` (written as `bytes`). -fn signatures_of(cos: &printcraft_cos::Document, bytes: &[u8], trust: &TrustStore) -> Arc> { - Arc::new(printcraft_sign::signatures(cos, bytes, trust)) +fn signatures_of(cos: &printcraft_cos::Document, bytes: &[u8], trust: &TrustStore, cache: &printcraft_sign::DigestCache) -> Arc> { + Arc::new(printcraft_sign::pdf::list_cached(cos, bytes, trust, cache)) } impl Session { @@ -1342,7 +1343,8 @@ impl Session { let marks = editor.as_ref().map(|e| printcraft_edit::marks_present(&e.cos)).unwrap_or_default();
