warp.status solved the stabilization plan (Subspace Warp eigen-decompositions and mesh fits)
on the page the first time it saw an analysis: ~4.9 s blocking the browser's event loop in
the smoke test. The analysis job now sends the plan summary with its result, and a settings
change has a WarpPlan job solve it (status reports stabilizing meanwhile). Desktop unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
contentFill.generate sends its plan (FillPlan) to a browser job worker:
the layer's frames render in passes on the worker's WebGPU device, the PNG
sequence goes back to browser storage (Services::store_file), and the page
adds the fill layer when the plan returns (WorkerReply::Fill). The smoke
test checks it; docs updated.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- GPU in browser job workers: each job worker opens its own WebGPU device
(deferred readbacks); the Render Queue export and the analyses' frame loops
are futures (render::passes, offload::run_request_async) whose frames
render in passes, awaiting the device between them. GPU particles and
Advanced 3D read back under keys too. workers.jobs reports passes and
readbacks; the smoke test measures them.
- Layer buffers in the browser's OPFS disk cache: frame workers back their
layer caches with a PrefetchStore; the page plans what to fetch before a
request from recent misses (LayerPrefetch over the shared DiskIndex).
- Templates embed footage (default on, size-capped with a warning) and
creating from a template extracts it next to the new project / into
browser storage.
- ICC LUT profiles (lut8/lut16/lutAtoB/lutBtoA, from the public ICC spec) in
Simulate Output > My Custom RGB, baked into a 3D LUT for the viewer.

The geometry stays on the CPU as per-frame plans shared with the CPU effects (bolts, mask
strokes, scribbles, contour segments, audio marks, glyph strokes, waves, flood-fill region,
eyedropper sample); segments and convex polygons are tile-binned and rasterised on the GPU
with the CPU's coverage functions. CPU output unchanged (gen_golden). CC Threads' exact ties
at round parameter values are a documented exception; Fractal stays on the CPU (needs f64).
Regenerated docs/effects.md, docs/parity.md EFF-5.

GPU render passes for CC Particle World / Systems II, Particle Playground,
CC Ball Action, CC Pixel Polly, CC Scatterize and Curl Noise (fx_particles,
chunked multi-pass raster); Shatter wireframe views, Foam extras, Timewarp
with a Matte Layer, strong Warp Fisheye/Twist (CPU f64 inverse map) and
custom .ocio configs no longer fall back to the CPU. CPU refactors pinned by
particle_golden / timewarp_golden / sim_golden hashes.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Inner/Outer Key's trimap and Cleanup strokes, Color Link's sample and CC Glass/Plastic's
light are shared with the CPU effects (CPU output unchanged: gen_golden). CC Plastic now
reads its Bump Layer (it read the nonexistent bumpMap id).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Pin exact CPU pixel hashes of the simulation effects refactored into shared
GPU plans in M13.23 (CC Rainfall/Snowfall/Star Burst/Bubbles/Drizzle/Hair/
Mr. Mercury, Caustics, Wave World, Foam, Shatter, Card Dance, Card Wipe):
404 frames over default and non-default settings, four times incl. a seek
backwards, 8 and 32 bpc, full and half resolution. Verified bit-identical
between 7a5a93b (before M13.23) and 808ca70 (after).

Bump the FilmCraft crates from 89cfbf2 to 2c5ba7a (118 commits; no API
changes needed here), whose Matroska reader now decodes the VP9 alpha
stream from BlockAdditions. The compositing QA scenario now checks that
WebM renders round-trip their alpha like ProRes 4444.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
CC Rainfall, Snowfall, Star Burst, Bubbles, Drizzle, Hair, Mr. Mercury,
Caustics, Wave World, Foam, Shatter, Card Dance and Card Wipe render on the GPU
(fx_sim.rs / fx_sim.wgsl). The per-frame simulation / layout stays on the CPU
and is shared with the CPU effect through plans (effects::sprite_plan,
piece_plan, bubble_list, mercury_blobs, drizzle_drops, wave_world_plan,
caustics_setup); a tiled item rasteriser composites sprites, bubbles, blob
fields and textured pieces in the CPU's order and shading. Layer-dependent
sprite colours (refracting rain, star-burst and hair roots) are sampled per
pixel; piece plans read the frame back once.

- GPU in the browser: each frame worker opens its own WebGPU device (Gpu::request_deferred) and
renders the GPU compositor and GPU effects with deferred readbacks (effectcraft-gpu deferred):
readbacks keyed by content start with map_async and miss, the pass returns placeholders, the
layer cache's gate drops inserts, and FrameServer::resume renders again once the device
delivered. Backend Auto times whole frames per comp in the workers. Frames with effects go to
GPU workers instead of the page. CPU fallback without WebGPU in workers (?nogpuworkers).
- Fix: a WGSL constant (3.40282347e38) that Chrome rejects invalidated every GPU kernel in Chrome
(the page's compositor too); a test checks every float literal fits f32.
- Disk cache in the Origin Private File System: workers write sealed frame entries with sync
access handles (temp file + move), the page keeps the DiskIndex (LRU under the settings' limit,
at most half the quota) and reads hits instead of rendering; survives reloads; blue cache bar.
- Storage manager: Settings ▸ Disk ▸ Browser Storage (usage/quota, persistent storage, Clear
buttons, automation ids) and storage.info / storage.persist / storage.clear (StorageHost).
- Docs: web.md (GPU workers, deferred passes, disk cache, storage manager, threading design:
one engine instance per worker), architecture, preferences, parity (WEB-1), roadmap.
- Tests: deferred passes vs CPU on a real device, placeholder gating, frame server passes and
Auto, GPU worker routing + disk cache across a reload, storage commands and widgets, store
usage by kind; smoke test: GPU effect frames in workers with pixel parity, disk hits after a
reload, storage manager.

Timewarp without a Matte Layer is now planned once (time_fx::timewarp_plan: frames, shutter
instants, motion fields) and built by the CPU or the GPU from the plan; with a Matte Layer it
renders on the CPU (catalog::gpu_supported).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
VR Blur, Chromatic Aberrations, Color Gradients, Converter (all projections and
cube layouts), De-Noise, Digital Glitch, Fractal Noise, Glow, Plane to Sphere,
Rotate Sphere, Sharpen and Sphere to Plane run on the GPU (fx_vr.rs /
fx_vr.wgsl) with the CPU's equirectangular maths: seam-wrapping, pole-continuing
sampling and latitude-widened box blurs, per eye for stereo layouts.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
CC Environment now fades nearly transparent environment texels to black continuously
(colour / max(alpha, 1e-3)) instead of a hard 1e-6 un-premultiply cut-off, which turned the
filtered map's float noise into colour.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Apply Color LUT, OCIO CDL / Color Space / Display / File / Look Transform and
Color Profile Converter compile to colour programs (effects::color_program,
built next to the CPU effects) that fx_lut.wgsl interprets per pixel; LUTs
(1D, 3D, cineSpace shapers, inverses) are read from the storage buffer with the
CPU's nearest / trilinear / tetrahedral interpolation. Lumetri's Input LUT and
Look no longer force the CPU. Custom .ocio configs stay on the CPU.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
3D Channel Extract, Cryptomatte, Depth Matte, Depth of Field, EXtractoR, Fog 3D,
ID Matte and IDentifier run on the GPU (fx_depth.rs / fx_depth.wgsl): aux planes
upload as a texture and are resampled onto the buffer grid with the CPU's index
arithmetic; tests compare against the CPU at 1x / 2x aux resolution, padded
buffers, half resolution and 8 / 32 bpc composites.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- footage.check: background footage check after File > Open (Progress panel), not an undo step
- timeline: track-matte / parent menus built only while open (was O(n^2) per frame);
expression-row lookup per layer; panels hold Arc<Comp> snapshots instead of deep clones
- Project panel: virtualised vertical scrolling, selection reveal, thumbnails rendered off
the UI thread
- effectcraft-cli bench --ops (engine::perf + ui-egui::bench)
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- gpu: pooled working textures (released once every encoder that could read
them is submitted), shared zero images, reused readback staging buffers,
direct readback into Image; NaN-poisoned scratch images under test and
NaN-aware diffs; validation errors panic under test
- render: AutoPick (per comp / scale / path EWMA of CPU vs GPU frame times,
warm-up and periodic re-probe) behind Backend::Auto; viewer uses it too;
cached adjustment footprints (uploaded once)
- gpu fx_warp: Warp, Bezier Warp, CC Bend It, CC Page Turn, Smear, Reshape,
Color Emboss, Cartoon; sliding-histogram median for large radii; CC Power
Pin perspective < 100
- cli: bench --gpu reports Auto and per-frame upload / readback MB

Effect Controls: Lumetri RGB and hue/saturation curve graphs, Colorama's
palette wheel, Glow's colour map strip and Arbitrary Map curves, Reshape
correspondence buttons and viewer handles (all prop.set, one undo step per
gesture, automation ids). Preview panel scrolls; Composition/Timeline tabs
get close, label swatch and viewer lock; Effect Controls tab the layer
swatch; dropdowns elide long text. Fix the browser start (no default disk
cache folder on wasm32). Browser smoke test covers frame workers, waiting
renders and the Media Browser.

Text with embedded TrueType, CFF (Type1C / CIDFontType0C / OpenType), Type 1 and Type 3 fonts,
standard-14 fallback to the bundled OFL fonts; Flate / DCT / inline / stencil images with SMask,
Indexed and ICC alternates; luminosity / alpha soft masks and the 16 blend modes in the SVG
render tree; tiling patterns; calculator functions; file.import page and Footage::page;
Create Shapes from Vector Layer keeps clips (page clips as layer masks, nested clips as Merge

Render Settings: field render with 3:2 pulldown phases, effects/solo/guide
layer/color depth/frame blending/motion blur overrides, custom time sampling
(duration), storage overflow through a quota hook. Output Module: crop
(edges or region of interest), resize (presets, lock aspect, quality),
straight/premultiplied/alpha-only channels, post-render actions, include
project link, audio channels and PCM formats, WebM bitrate and key frame
interval. Render Settings / Output Module templates with built-ins and
defaults per slot (Edit > Templates dialogs), render logs next to the
output, Notify on completion. All through renderQueue.* commands and
persisted in the project.

- ui-egui: scriptui_view draws script windows at engine layout bounds; PanelKind::ScriptPanel; File ▸ Scripts and Window menu list scripts/panels (egui + native menus)
- examples/plugins/posterize-bands (WebAssembly, API v1); host plug-in tests; desktop loads <config>/Plug-ins
- MCP: script_ui and history tools; docs/plugins.md, agents.md, parity, architecture, ATTRIBUTION

- Transform: Use Composition's Shutter Angle / Shutter Angle, sampling the transform across
the shutter via EffectHost::params_at (EffectEnv::shutter carries the comp shutter when
motion blur is on); the GPU path defers to the CPU when blurring.
- Glow: Glow Operation (blend modes) and Glow Colors > Arbitrary Map.
- Cartoon: Advanced > Edge Enhancement (shock-filter sharpening / softening).

effectcraft-vp9enc gains inter frames: single LAST reference, 16x16/8x8 blocks,
candidate + diamond search refined to quarter samples with the regular 8-tap
filters, NEARESTMV/NEARMV/ZEROMV/NEWMV with spec MV prediction, skip blocks,
the in-loop deblocking filter, per-frame forward probability updates, a key
frame interval and target-bitrate rate control. Decoded output matches the
encoder's reconstruction exactly through FilmCraft's decoder and ffmpeg.
WebM export now encodes sequentially with a key frame every two seconds.

- Wave Type: Polygon, Image Contours (source layer channel threshold, pre-blur, tolerance,
contour index, source centre) and Mask, rippling outward from the outline (exact signed
distance transform, util::signed_distance).
- Parameters Are Set At Birth via the new EffectHost::params_at; Render Quality; Reflection
off the layer edges; Stroke Profile.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Fill: Fill Mask, All Masks, Horizontal / Vertical Feather, Invert outside the mask
(GPU falls back to the CPU when masks are used).
- Refine Soft / Hard Matte: Reduce Chatter (temporal steadying of oscillating edges) and
Use Motion Blur (samples, shutter angle, higher quality) from neighbouring frames.

- Particle Exploder, Ephemeral Property Mapper (operators), Affects groups on every
producer / force / mapper (source, selection map, characters, age + feather).
- Full mapper target list (angle, torque, scale, gradient velocity/force, lifespan,
character, font size, time offset, scale speed...); old saves remap by label.
- Cannon / Grid text particles (stroke font), Auto-Orient Rotation, Layer Map draws the
map layer per particle with Time Offset Type / Time Offset.

Reconciled with main's keyframe labels (same Keyframe::label field; keys.setLabel and
keys.selectLabelGroup from main are kept, M14.5's duplicates removed; Edit ▸ Label on
selected keys delegates to the label helper), proxies (RenderOpts::proxy next to
nested_switches/draft_shadows), offloaded renders (Work carries nested_switches), wasm
audio pump (preview mix rate), variable font axes and mask feather points.

Material (diffuse, specular, highlight sharpness).
- Shatter: Custom Shatter Map (+ White Tiles Fixed), Gradient group, Textures group
(front/side/back modes and layers, colour, opacity) and extrusion side rendering.
- Card Wipe: true 3D cards, Back Layer as a layer parameter (old None/Self popup migrated),
Flip Direction, Position / Rotation Jitter.
- Renderer supplies the comp camera and first light to effects.

fx_color kernels mirror the CPU effects operation for operation: one per-pixel
pass for the point effects, Lumetri with its Sharpen luminance blur, and Key
Light's matte pipeline (pre-blur, clip, rollback, despot, shrink/grow, softness,
edge band) as plane passes. CPU fallback: Key Light with Inside/Outside masks or
Hard Colour after Screen Softness, Colorama with Interpolate Palette off.

Kernels in fx_generate.wgsl mirror the CPU effects; wipe edges use f64
per-column/per-row terms uploaded as (hi, lo) pairs. CPU helpers shared
with the GPU are now public (camera_lens_spans, gen_mode, pattern_kind,
GrainLook, place_layer). GPU tests in tests_fx_generate.rs.

Specular), Input LUT and Look (custom .cube + built-in looks).
- Hue/Saturation: Channel Control with Reds..Magentas ranges (range + fall-offs).
- Levels: Channel popup and Red/Green/Blue/Alpha controls; Curves: Channel parameter.
- catalog::param_shown: Effect Controls shows only what a popup selects.
- Timewarp Pixel Motion: block-matching flow (raster::flow::block_flow_window) with
Vector Detail, Smoothing, Error Threshold, Block Size, Weighting, Correct Luminance,
Filtering, Build From One Image; Matte Layer/Channel, Warp Layer, Show, Source Crops.
- GPU falls back to CPU when channel/range controls are used.

Layer > Camera > Create Stereo 3D Rig (left/right eye comps with expression-linked eye
cameras, Stereo 3D Controls effect, stereo comp through 3D Glasses), Create Orbit Null,
Create Cameras from 3D Model; Layer > Light > Create Lights from 3D Model
(KHR_lights_punctual), Control Light with Camera, Create Environment Light Background
Layer (equirectangular sky drawn through the camera). glTF cameras and punctual lights
are parsed by effectcraft-model.
Advanced 3D: per-sample motion blur over the comp shutter, and blend modes / track
mattes / Preserve Transparency composited through the 2D path in depth order.

The 3D Camera Tracker analysis joins the offloaded jobs. The disk cache stays off in the
browser (std::env::temp_dir panics on wasm32 once a config store exists).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Persistence: settings, shortcuts, recent projects, imported media, saved projects and
auto-saves live in OPFS (IndexedDB fallback) through an in-memory mirror flushed in the
background (apps/effectcraft-web/src/store.rs, persist.rs); ConfigStore gains FileOps so
auto-save / recovery work in the browser store; the session snapshot restores the last
project + editor state on reload; File > Open Recent works from storage.
- Audio: Web Audio output (AudioWorklet, ScriptProcessor fallback) fed by AudioPlayback::pump
on wasm32; A/V sync from AudioContext.currentTime; meters; unlock on first gesture.
- Background jobs: engine::offload (WorkerRequest/WorkerReply protocol, Offload trait,
run_request); Render Queue, tracker, mask tracker, Warp Stabilizer and Roto Freeze run in Web
Workers (a second engine instance on the shared compiled module), progress streamed back;
cancel terminates the worker.
- GPU: WebGPU viewer frames drawn straight from the compositor's texture (gpu_display on
wasm32 when the viewer draws plainly); async readback (Gpu::read_display_async) for pixels.
- PWA: manifest, service worker precaching the build (xtask fills list/version), icons copied
from assets/app-icon; COOP/COEP kept from cached responses; offline reload works.
- window.effectcraft: saveToBrowser, listStored, removeStored, flush; info() reports storage,
audio, gpu, workers.
- Tests: native store + protocol + offload (render, track, cancel) tests; smoke.mjs extended
(GPU path, worker render responsiveness, audio gesture + playback, reload persistence,
Open Recent, offline reload).

New L0 crate effectcraft-opusenc: clean-room RFC 6716 CELT-only encoder
(fullband 48 kHz, 20 ms packets, mono/stereo as dual L/R stereo, constant
packet size from the bitrate) with the RFC 7845 OpusHead and pre-skip.
Forward low-overlap MDCT, inter/intra coarse energy, fine/final energy,
the decoder's exact allocation, recursive band splitting, PVQ search and
codeword indexing, silence frames.
crates/export depends on it; filmcraft-opus (dev) is the round-trip oracle
in tests/opus_roundtrip.rs, with ffmpeg reading an in-test Ogg Opus file
as a second oracle when installed.

Extruded text keeps per-character 3D: each glyph's outline is extruded in its own space and
placed by its animated matrix; shape layers extrude their fill outlines (gradients use their
mid colour). Shadow-map bias scales with the texel footprint at the receiver and the PCF
reach (no acne on curved casters), identically on CPU and GPU. Docs: Advanced 3D in
architecture.md, parity table updated (3D, Text).

Liquify stores its strokes as effect data and replays them into a cached
displacement mesh; liquify.stroke / liquify.clear commands for agents.
Rolling Shutter Repair measures motion with effectcraft-track KLT (new
effects -> track same-layer edge).

New crate effectcraft-model (L2): glTF 2.0 (.gltf/.glb, data URIs, external buffers and
images, PBR metallic-roughness with base/MR/normal/occlusion/emissive textures, node
hierarchy, skins, step/linear/cubic animations) and OBJ/MTL import, parametric primitives,
extruded/bevelled outline meshes and polygon triangulation with holes.
Project: FootageKind::Model, LayerSource::Model/Primitive, Layer::environment, Geometry and
Material Options builders, Environment light Source. Media probes and loads models
(FootageSource::model). Engine: layer.newModel, layer.new3dPrimitive/newPrimitive,
comp.renderer, layer.environment, material.set/reset/duplicateAssign/revealSource (stubs
replaced); File > Import and layer.addItem pick up models. Hand-written fixtures with
attribution sidecars.

Region-of-interest frames render on the CPU path; the viewer keeps main's
frame drawing (Show Channel, exposure, ROI) and reads GPU-composited frames
back. Keeping frames as native egui-wgpu textures stays implemented behind
RenderSource::gpu_display (off).

New L3 crate effectcraft-gpu: a wgpu compute backend for the per-frame
compositing walk (layer transforms with the CPU's nearest/bilinear/bicubic
sampling and minification pre-filter, motion-blur accumulation, track
mattes, Preserve Transparency, layer style passes and knockout, all 38
blend modes as a WGSL port of color::blend, 8/16 bpc clamp+quantise,
colour-space conversions). 3D runs, adjustment and wireframe layers run on
the CPU between GPU steps. GPU effects with the CPU semantics: Gaussian,
Fast Box and Directional Blur, Glow, Levels, Curves, Hue/Saturation, Tint,
Fill, Gradient Ramp, Fractal Noise, Drop Shadow, Brightness & Contrast,
Exposure, Invert, Transform (registry gpu badge from effects::GPU_EFFECTS).
render: Backend (Cpu/Gpu/Auto) in RenderOpts, the Accelerator trait and
Renderer::accel, GPU effect chains in the effect stack, hooks for the GPU
walk. Project setting gpu_acceleration (Mercury GPU Acceleration / Software
Only), render.backend command, file.projectSettings renderer. Session and
Render Queue exports carry the accelerator. CLI --gpu and bench --gpu.
Tests compare GPU vs CPU renders (blend modes x bit depths, transforms,
masks, mattes, motion blur, colour management, styles, collapse,
adjustment fallback, every GPU effect) and skip without an adapter.

Type tool point/box text creation, double-click editing, caret and selection
in the viewer (viewer_text.rs), keyboard/IME/clipboard, box handles; engine
text.edit/endEdit/setSelection/moveCaret/insert/delete, layer.setText range,
caret insertion style, Paste Text and Match Formatting / Paste Text
Formatting Only (stubs removed); Character/Paragraph/Properties panels act
on the selection.

Composition viewer interaction parity with After Effects:
- Snapping (View > Snapping, the Tools bar checkbox, Cmd/Ctrl inverts while
dragging): layer edges, centres and anchor points, mask and shape-path
vertices, comp edges/centre, guides (Snap to Guides) and grid (Snap to
Grid), with highlighted target box / line / cross feedback. Pure maths in
engine::viewer (nearest target within tolerance, priority ties).
- Rulers (Cmd+R) with live pointer markers and a draggable zero point;
guides dragged out of the rulers, moved in the viewer, dragged off to
remove (view.moveGuide / view.removeGuide), lock respected; proportional
grid.
- Show Channel (RGB/Red/Green/Blue/Alpha/RGB Straight, Colorize), exposure
(+/- stops in linear light, reset), Take Snapshot (Shift+F5) with a stored
render and Show Snapshot (F5 held / button held), Fast Previews (Off,
Adaptive Resolution, Draft, Fast Draft, Wireframe), Resolution > Custom.
- Region of interest: drawn in the viewer; RenderOpts.roi renders only that
rectangle (crop of the full render, tested), Crop Comp to ROI uses it.
- Bottom bar in AE 2026 order ("136.1 %", "(Full)").
- Shape Pen (SHP-1): Pen on a shape layer / nothing selected draws Shape n
groups (Path 1, Stroke 1, Fill 1) via shape.newPath; the G slot cycles
Add / Delete / Convert Vertex and Mask Feather; mask.* vertex commands
work on shape paths; mask.insertVertex / mask.convertVertex; marquee
vertex selection, Alt-drag/click converts, double-click free transform
box (path.freeTransform on masks and shape paths).
- Motion paths (ANM-3): keyframe dots and spatial tangent handles, dragging
keys (keys.set) and tangents (keys.setSpatialTangents), parented layers.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Collapsed precomps draw their layers straight into the parent with
concatenated transforms and multiplied opacity (nested blend modes and
adjustment layers act on the parent); a non-Normal mode, track matte or
Preserve Transparency composites the collapsed result as a whole; masks,
effects or styles force a flattened render. Nested 3D layers use the
parent's camera and lights and join the parent's 3D run when the precomp
layer is 3D. Continuously Rasterize re-rasterises text and shape layers at
their on-screen scale. Draft quality samples nearest-neighbour, Wireframe
draws the layer bounds. layer.slip / slipBack (Alt+PageUp) / slipForward
(Alt+PageDown) and dragging the timeline source bar slip the source under
fixed in/out points, clamped to the source duration; undoable.

PRJ-7. `engine::autosave` with the session hooks the frontends call:
- Auto-save: every N minutes a dirty project is written to "EffectCraft Auto-Save" next to
it (or a custom folder; untitled projects use the custom folder or the config dir) as
"<name> auto-save N.ecproj", rotating through max versions (oldest overwritten, extra
slots dropped when the maximum shrinks). Optional save when the render queue starts.
- Atomic writes for projects, auto-saves and config files: temp file + fsync + rename; a
failed write removes the temp file and leaves the previous file intact.
- Crash recovery: a session.lock sentinel in the config dir records the open project and
its latest auto-save; a clean exit removes it. At launch a leftover sentinel offers the
latest auto-save in a Recover Project dialog (Settings > Startup can turn it off).
- File > Open Recent (stored in the settings) with Clear Recent Projects; Increment and
Save uses After Effects naming ("Intro 2.ecproj"); Revert reloads the saved file.
- Commands: file.autoSave, file.recoveryInfo, file.openRecent {index|path},
file.clearRecent.
- Tests: rotation, interval/dirty tick, simulated crash mid-write, unclean-exit detection
and recovery, Open Recent / Increment and Save / Revert.

Keyboard shortcut presets in the engine (`engine::shortcuts`): every menu entry (including
ones with bound parameters), registry command and frontend command is bindable, scoped
application-wide or to a panel. "EffectCraft Default" is After Effects' layout and
read-only; editing it creates a custom preset that stores only its differences. Presets
are saved in the config store; the shortcut dispatcher and the menus read the active one.
- Commands: shortcuts.list, shortcuts.set {command, params?, keys}, shortcuts.reset,
shortcuts.preset {select|new|duplicate|delete|rename}, shortcuts.export/import (JSON),
shortcuts.conflicts.
- Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts: preset bar, modifier toggles (or held keys), an on-screen
keyboard coloured by scope (application-wide / panel-specific / both), key details,
a searchable list of every command, record-or-type assignment with conflict warnings,
reset to default; all widgets have automation ids.
- Tests: normalization, defaults conflict-free, conflict detection, custom preset creation
and persistence, preset lifecycle + export/import, dispatch uses the custom preset.

A real Settings model in the engine (`engine::prefs`): serde, versioned, dotted keys
(`general.undoLevels`, `labels.3.name`), migration of older layouts, unknown keys kept,
persisted through a `ConfigStore` trait (platform config dir on the desktop; MemoryConfig
for tests; the web app can back it with localStorage).
- After Effects 2026 pages (General … Scripting & Expressions) as a schema shared by the
dialog, `prefs.pages` and docs/preferences.md (rows not wired yet are listed there and
kept in step by a test).
- Commands: prefs.get, prefs.set {key, value | values}, prefs.reset {page?}, prefs.open
{page?}, prefs.pages.
- Wired settings: undo levels, path point size, tool tips, layers at comp start / CTI,
default spatial interpolation linear, Home screen on launch, new project template,
rendering progress in Info, adaptive resolution limit, cache when idle, fast previews,
theme + UI brightness, label names/colours everywhere (Label menu, timeline, project,
render queue, viewer), label colour for handles, grid colour/spacing/subdivisions, guide
colour, safe margins, still footage duration, sequence fps, audio output device and
output mapping, layer / footage / preview cache budgets, default 3D renderer.
- Settings dialog: AE's left page list + right content, OK / Cancel (restores) / Previous /
Next, every widget with an automation id.

Paint: non-destructive Paint effect with Brush/Clone/Eraser stroke groups
(Path, Stroke Options, Transform, Duration spans, Write On End keys),
dab rasterizer (diameter/angle/roundness/hardness/spacing/flow/opacity,
pressure dynamics, modes, channels), eraser modes, clone from layer/time,
cache keys include visible strokes. paint.stroke/options/brushPreset/
setCloneSource/removeStroke/presets. Layer panel with paint tools, Paint
and Brushes panels.
Puppet: Puppet effect with meshes and Position/Advanced/Bend/Starch/Overlap
pins; alpha contour -> expansion (exact EDT) -> simplified outline ->
Delaunay with constraint recovery; ARAP (Igarashi 2005) two-step solve with
CG; anti-aliased texture-mapped rendering with overlap depth. puppet.addPin/
movePin/setPin/removePin/mesh/info. Puppet tools in the viewer with mesh
overlay and header options.

New crate effectcraft-lottie (L3): export a comp to Lottie JSON / dotLottie
(precomp and base64 image assets; shape, solid, null, precomp, image and text
layers or glyph shapes; transforms with parenting, separated position,
anchor; keyframes with speed/influence converted to normalised i/o tangents,
hold keys, spatial ti/to; all shape items incl. gradients, dashes, trim,
repeater and path operators; masks, track mattes, blend modes, time remap,
timing, markers, optional expressions, a few Lottie effects) with a warnings
list for what Lottie cannot express, and the inverse import. Commands
file.exportLottie / file.importLottie with File > Export / Import entries.
Round-trip tests (values and rendered frames) and hand-written fixtures.

Tracker panel (Window > Tracker): Track Camera / Warp Stabilizer (disabled),
Track Motion / Stabilize Motion, Motion Source, Current Track, Track Type,
Position/Rotation/Scale, Motion Target with Edit Target..., Options...
(Motion Tracker Options dialog), Analyze (1 frame back, back, forward,
1 frame forward; stop while running) with progress, Reset and Apply (Apply
Dimensions dialog). Track point widgets in the viewer: feature and search
regions with corner handles, attach point crosshair and track path, all
draggable through track.setPoint (one undo step per drag). Automation ids for
every widget; headless UI test.
Tracker: featureless regions no longer drift (ties keep the prediction, only
confident matches predict motion). docs/agents.md: tracking example.

New L2 crate effectcraft-track: per-point feature/search region tracking with
pyramid normalized cross-correlation and Lucas-Kanade (similarity + gain/bias)
sub-pixel refinement, confidence, adapt/stop/extrapolate/continue actions,
RGB/luminance/saturation channels, blur/enhance pre-processing, and
homography/affine/similarity solves.
Project: Motion Trackers > Tracker n > Track Point n property tree
(GroupKind::Tracker with type, target and options). Engine: track.* commands
(new/motion/stabilize/property/select/setType/setTarget/options/setPoint/
analyze/stop/apply/reset/delete/status), background or blocking analysis
job with progress and cancel (one undo step), apply to Transform, Stabilize
and Corner Pin. Renderer::layer_source for the tracker's frames.

≈64% weighted feature parity, 257/298 effects, ≈167 agent-hours remaining
(≈42–50 h wall clock with five parallel agents).

Also: render uses web_time::Instant in layer styles; renderQueue.add documents
its render-settings/output-module keys so checked execution accepts them (+test).

- apps/effectcraft-web (L6): eframe web runner booting the shared EffectcraftApp with a browser
session: in-memory file table, <input type=file> pickers and drag-and-drop for open/import,
downloads for Save and Render Queue outputs (several files as one stored .zip), and the
window.effectcraft promise API over the control channel. Demo project on start.
- wasm32 runtime fixes: web-time for Instant/SystemTime (render, engine, export, ui-egui);
Frames renders queued jobs on the UI thread (Frames::pump) instead of a thread pool;
Render Queue runs inline; relative outputs resolve under / ; control PNGs inline.
- effectcraft-export: per-job output Sink (files to memory instead of disk); host FileExporter
carries it; test that sink exports touch no file.
- xtask web [--dev] [--serve PORT] (wasm-bindgen 0.2.129, optional wasm-opt, COOP/COEP server);
effectcraft-web in WEB_CRATES. docs/web.md, headless Chrome smoke test, favicon (+attribution).

Resolve conflicts; register playback.audio (Composition > Preview > Audio)
as a real frontend command replacing its stub; layer_at uses content_buf.

- Audio effects (Backwards, Bass & Treble, Delay, Flange & Chorus,
High-Low Pass, Modulator, Parametric EQ, Reverb, Stereo Mixer, Tone)
applied per layer in the comp mixdown, so export and preview share them.
RBJ-cookbook biquads, Schroeder/Moorer reverb, modulated delay lines;
stateless per block via pre-roll. Tone makes any layer audible.
- Real-time audio preview: ui-egui AudioFeed/AudioPlayback (feeder thread
mixing ahead) behind an AudioDevice hook; the desktop app implements it
with cpal (L6). Audio clock drives playback (consumed frames minus device
latency, looped through the work area). Preview panel Include Audio /
playback.muteAudio.
- Audio panel VU meters with peak hold and clip indicators; selected
layer's Audio Levels.
- Timeline Audio > Waveform for footage with audio (L reveals Audio
Levels, LL the Waveform), drawn from a cached per-item peak summary.
- ui.playback reports audio state and meter levels.

Layer table matches the real dependency graph; wasm check passes for all
L0-L4 crates and the egui UI.
